Welcome to Intro to Filmmaking! This course is designed to introduce students to the key elements of how to devise and create a short film. Students will participate in a variety of practical sessions which focus on developing understanding of the filmmaking process. During the course, students have the opportunity to apply these skills in the creation of their own short film. The content of the module will focus on:
- The key elements involved in devising and creating a short film
- Character creation and development
- Narrative development
- Visual storytelling
- Film structure
- The production process for filmmaking
- Use of technology in filmmaking
This module will provide students with the opportunity to develop their practical skills and knowledge in relation to the film editing process. The module will cover the processes involved in:
- Loading and logging raw film footage
- Creating an editing project
- Storytelling and creative editing
- Editing theory and history
- Colour correction and grading
- Use of graphics, sound and music
Students will develop their knowledge of how to edit a film from start to finish through completion of a practical project and evaluation.
